Oil on mahogany panel by Georges Croegaert (Antwerp 1848-Cannes 1923), signed lower right. Excellent condition. Dimensions without frame: 33cm x 24cm. Dimensions with frame: 52cm x 44cm. Georges Croegaert, a Belgian painter trained at the Royal Academy of Antwerp, spent most of his career in Paris. A genre painter renowned for his portraits of elegant women and especially for his often humorous depictions of Cardinals in a highly realistic style.
