Elegant Woman In Napoleon III Attire, Spelter Sculpture With A Double Patina Of Brown And Golden Green
An elegant decorative sculpture depicting a young woman dressed in the fashion of the Second Empire, portrayed in a graceful and animated pose. Wearing a hat and holding a fan, she stands on an architectural terrace forming the base of a staircase with a finely ornamented balustrade. Although the iconography is linked to the Napoleon III aesthetic, this work is stylistically characteristic of early 20th-century production, a period during which gallant scenes and references to the 19th century experienced a resurgence of interest. The sculpture features a particularly decorative interplay of patinas: a nuanced brown patina for the figure, highlighting the modeling of the face, the movement of the body, and the folds of the costume; and a golden-green patina for the architectural elements, reinforcing the sense of depth and the overall ornamental character. The integrated base, treated as a miniature architectural element, plays an integral part in the composition and testifies to the care taken in the creation of this piece.
