Flat enamel sign with a handle (Alsatian enameling), circa 1950s, for PHILICOT compound animal feed, manufactured by the JOSEPH flour mill in Chagny. Signed ROBY, the artist name of Robert WOLFF (1916-1995). A Frenchman who was a journalist and editor of "La Vie des bêtes" (The Life of Animals), and the author of lithographs, humorous drawings, and numerous books on animals. Good overall condition, some chips due to age and use.
