INFANTRY OFFICER'S SABRE, "melon-sided" model. France, Revolutionary period, circa 1800. Gilt bronze hilt. Melon-sided pommel, knuckle guard decorated with lines. Almond-shaped crossguard and curved, teardrop-shaped quillon. Checkered ebony grip. Curved blade with fullers, fuller, and flat back, engraved and blued for one-third of its length. With a brass scabbard. Overall length: 79.5 cm
