Puiforcat : Louis XVI Style Sterling Silver & Vermeil Icecream Set Pompadour Pattern
Exquisite solid silver ice cream set by Puiforcat in the sumptuous Louis XVI style "Pompadour" pattern. The set comprises 12 solid silver spoons decorated with shell motifs, foliate scrolls, laurel branches, and ribbon bows in the "Marie Antoinette" style. Monogrammed handles and vermeil (gold on silver) spoons with matching chased decoration. Hallmarked with the French Minerva 1st Standard mark (.950) and the hallmarks of the master silversmith Emile Puiforcat (hallmark with the initials "EP" and a penknife), registered in 1857. This magnificent Pompadour ice cream service is in good condition with minor scratches consistent with age (please note that vermeil is often difficult to photograph and is of much better quality in person than in the attached photos), presented in a case lined with anti-tarnish fabric.
