A delightful little box in lacquered blue composition, that slightly greyish blue so typical of the 18th century.
It is adorned with a reverse glass painting depicting a young boy placing a flame of love or remembrance on an altar.
The interior is lined with bergamot, the fragrant fruit so beloved by European courts in the 18th century for scenting small objects of virtue.
It is in good condition, though with some signs of wear consistent with its age, such as small dents and scratches (see photo). Diameter: 6.5 cm Height: 2.5 cm
France, 18th century
