"Countertop Game, Small Roulette, Folk Art, Circa 1900"
A polychrome, turned wooden bar or pub game of chance, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. This typical object of French folk art was generally used in bistros to designate who would pay the round or for small bets between customers. The game consists of a footed chalice decorated with red and white bands, housing a numbered spinning top (1 to 12) made of blue and red painted wood. The mechanism is complete and functional: a small metal pin (lug) fixed to the inner wall determines the result when the top stops spinning. The object has a superb original patina with very authentic crackled paint that testifies to its age. No restoration has been carried out in order to preserve its historical character. The alphabetical inscription "EB Déposé" can be read on the playing surface. Used condition. Shipping: Free for France and Corsica. Careful packaging - Tracked shipping within 24/48 hours.
