Early 19th Century Bronze Plaque With Hungarian Heroes
Unique and elegant high-relief lost-wax bronze plaque, mounted on a wooden frame covered in red velvet. The plaque depicts Francis II Rákóczi (1676-1735), Prince of Transylvania and a symbol of Hungarian nationalism, seated in the center. Next to him is a man playing a flute, while a city can be seen in the background. Around him, at the four corners of the plaque, are geometric decorations and depictions of his four captains, accompanied by inscriptions containing their names. The name of the artist, Kallós Ede (1866-1950), a well-known Hungarian sculptor, is inscribed at the bottom of the plaque. This is an object of great taste and history, capable of lending a touch of refinement and antiquity to any setting. Hungarian manufacture, early 19th century.
