Cavalry Senior Officer's Belt Plate. Consulate / First Empire.
Cavalry officer's belt buckle. Consulate/First Empire. Rectangular gilt brass plate. It is framed by a silver molding decorated with water leaves, 7 mm wide, and in its center by an uncrowned gilt brass imperial eagle holding in its talons the radiant thunderbolt of Jupiter, 5 cm high, 4.7 cm wide, including its hind legs and wire for attaching the ornament. Two large silver stars, approximately 1.8 cm in diameter. Good condition; the plate and the eagle retain their original gilding. Back with two loops and white sheepskin glued on. Dimensions of the plate: 8.5 x 7 cm; 9 cm wide. France. First Empire.
