Robert Nicoidski was born in La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland) on December 5, 1931. He died in Paris on October 23, 1996. He was a passionate painter; his works proclaim his fervent love for an art as essential to him as breathing. He could have been one of the major figures of the French art scene in the 1960s and 70s. He exhibited in various galleries in both Europe and the United States: Club 44 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the art museum in the same city, the Musée Rath and the Musée de l'Athénée in Geneva, and the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris. Galerie La Hune, Galerie Furstenberg, the Contemporary Gallery in New York, the Gothenburg Art Gallery, Espace Cardin, Galerie Nichido in Paris, etc. Winner of the Nichido Prize, he secured a traveling exhibition in all major Japanese cities. Museums acquired his works: the Museum of Modern Art, the Modern Art Museum of New York, the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Athénée Museum in Geneva, etc. Supported by collectors (Koechlin, Parinaud, Agathe Elgozy, Alix de Rothschild).
