Boulle Marquetry Cartel Clock, Napoleon III Period

Large Napoleon III period Boulle marquetry cartel clock with matching base. Superb Boulle marquetry cartel clock in a violin shape, richly adorned with brass and bronze, topped by a bronze figure of Fame. The whole is enhanced by finely chased gilt bronze ornamentation, typical of the refined taste of the Napoleon III era. The circular enamel dial, with Roman numerals, is framed by exquisitely delicate decorative bronzes. The beautifully crafted movement testifies to the horological expertise of the 19th century. Working condition not guaranteed; I do not have a key. The cartel clock comes with its original, perfectly matching base, forming a rare and sought-after decorative ensemble, ideal for enhancing a classic interior or an art collection. It is in its used condition, with some slight lifting of the brass marquetry and a small chip in one corner affecting a side glass panel. Part of the brass marquetry on both sides of the lamp cylinder has been replaced with wood. An interesting bronze warrior adorns the door. Large in size, it measures 118 cm high including its base.
