René Seyssaud (1867-1952), a very beautiful painting depicting a Provençal landscape, with olive groves in the foreground, rendered in warm, rich colors, a line of bluish mountains on the horizon, and a sky animated by clouds, painted with broad brushstrokes. A Provençal painter, born in Marseille, a precursor of Fauvism, and a member of the new Avignon school. In good, original condition, in need of cleaning, with some repainting around the edges where the frame was, see photos. Countersigned on the back of the stretcher, with an old exhibition label.
