"Orientalist Marble Signed Pugi"
A finely sculpted marble odalisque, detailing the clothing, depicting an oriental woman reclining on a sofa, signed Guglielmo Pugi (1850-1915), a Florentine sculptor active between 1870 and 1915. Some of Pugi's works are exhibited at the Alabaster Museum in Volterra. He created the bust of King Umberto I located in the main square of Fiesole. Sculptures by Guglielmo Pugi were presented at the 1901 Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York, and at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, Missouri.
