An exceptional floor globe featuring a brass meridian circle and equatorial table with months, days, and zodiac signs, and including the stars and planets known at that time. Mounted on a mahogany base with turned urn-shaped supports, resting on three flared feet with original casters, connected by stretchers centered on the compass rose. The globe is signed John Newton and Sons and dated January 1, 1828. It depicts the major discoveries, notably the voyages of Captain Cook. It has undergone an earlier restoration, focusing on Eastern Europe, but could easily be restored if desired.
