Louis XVI Period Armchair Stamped By Mariette, Who Received His Master Craftsmanship In 1770
Artist: Nicolas Louis Mariette
Louis XVI period armchair. This Louis XVI period armchair features a square, elegant back, resting on four fluted and reeded legs. The cuffed armrests and molded seat rail exemplify the sobriety and balance characteristic of the late 18th-century Neoclassical style. This chair bears the stamp of Nicolas-Louis Mariette, a Parisian cabinetmaker renowned for the quality of his work and the precision of his proportions. Made of painted beechwood, it retains its original lacquer with a beautiful patina. The upholstery has been redone using traditional methods and is covered in a silk and linen fabric from the Le Lièvre company.
