Large oil on canvas depicting a charming riverbank scene reminiscent of the Loir River. The bucolic charm of the two boats at the edge of the woods is evident. Excellent use of color. Maurice Pannetier was a French figurative painter whose style is often associated with Post-Impressionism or classical 20th-century painting. His preferred subjects included landscapes, riverbanks and woodlands, as well as barges at the dock, ports, and industrial or port scenes. His work is appreciated for its descriptive and precise rendering, as well as its well-balanced color palette. His paintings often reflect everyday life and the French landscape.
