Manufacture De La Reine Rue Thiroux, 18th-century Paris Porcelain Basin
Paris porcelain basin, marked in red on the reverse with a crowned A, an incised V in the clay, and an unglazed cross. These are likely the marks of a model maker or a piece intended for the clergy? Manufactured at the rue Thiroux factory, founded by André Marie Lebœuf in 1776. Under the patronage of Queen Marie Antoinette from 1778. Decorated with cornflowers, very fashionable during the reign of Louis XVI. Good overall condition, with a barely visible restoration to the base, wear to the decoration at the bottom of the basin where the ewer was, and minor wear to the gilding on the rim. A beautiful piece of rare shape. All questions welcome.
