An elegant Napoleon III style pedestal table, dating from the late 19th century, perfectly illustrating the eclectic and refined taste of this period. It rests on four cabriole legs of precious wood (mahogany), richly adorned with gilt bronze mounts and sabots, decorated with rocaille foliage and scrollwork. The uprights are highlighted with gilt fillets, adding great finesse to the whole. The undulating apron, with its scalloped lines, is profusely decorated with applied gilt bronze mounts featuring vegetal and rocaille motifs, typical of the Napoleon III decorative repertoire. The ornamentation is harmonious and perfectly balanced on each side. The polylobed top is surmounted by a veined marble in shades of red, pink, and gray, encircled by an elegant gilt-bronze molding that perfectly follows the contours of the top. The whole piece testifies to high-quality craftsmanship, both in the cabinetmaking and in the chasing of the bronzes, characteristic of late 19th-century French production. Attributable to Linke, Sormani, or Zwiener. Good condition. H 77 x D 58 cm.
