He was the ninth of ten children.He stated that he had not attended any art school, and it is very likely that his father taught him the craft. The family arrived in Paris around 1907/1908.Roger Favin exhibited for the first time at the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 1928. He presented three busts, including one of his mother. He participated regularly. He became an associate member of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 1932 and a full member in 1933. He received the Henri Gsell and Isidore Paquin prizes.This sculptor is known for his numerous sculptures, often in wood, but also cast in bronze or terracotta. Representations of African figures are his most prominent subject. Very few of his works are dated, and often lack any foundry mark.He died in Paris at the age of 85 on April 14, 1990.
