Album Of 125 Photos, Militaria Late 19th Century
A beautiful red percale album containing 125 photographs taken between 1899 and 1900, primarily of infantry, cavalry, and artillery. The maneuvers took place in southwestern France, specifically in Lot-et-Garonne, Casseneuil, Villeréal, etc.
Each photograph is annotated in red ink, dated, and, for the most part, located.
A fine collection; the vast majority of the photographs are in good condition, though a few have faded slightly.
The album measures approximately 22 cm by 16 cm.
Provenance: formerly in the collection of the Gauban Aspit family of Saint-Amand, one of whose ancestors fought alongside Lafayette during the American Revolutionary War.
