Early 19th Century Set Of 8 George IV Period Mahogany Dining Chairs
Handsome Set of Eight (6+2) George IV Period Mahogany Dining Chairs
A handsome set of eight antique solid mahogany dining chairs in the classic Chippendale style, dating from around 1830 and including two armchairs and six single chairs. The quality is excellent, and the design particularly attractive. The backs are pierced with fine fretwork, and the legs are double stretched for extra stability. All chairs have drop-in upholstered seats, with the two carvers matching the six singles. The mahogany has a gorgeous color and patina, and the original polish finish has been retained. Each chair features a shaped and carved top rail with molded uprights and a pierced, carved central splat; the armchairs also have shaped and molded arms. This leads down to drop-in upholstered seats in a neutral fabric, currently in good condition (and easily re-upholstered in a fabric of choice if desired). The chairs stand on square molded front legs with shaped corner brackets at the top, joined by a double H-stretcher, with splayed back legs. The seat height is 48 cm. Generously proportioned, these chairs offer both comfort and aesthetic appeal, retaining their original color and patina to the frames and ensuring they stand out in any setting. In good condition and crafted in England circa 1830, this set of dining chairs is not only highly functional but also a superb representation of late Georgian design.Measurements of the chairs 54cm wide, 48cm deep, 96cm highMeasurements of the armchairs 58cm wide, 50cm deep, 96cm high
