Iranian Lamp With Mongoose Burner Or Rare Javanese Majapahit Lamp
I am clearly frustrated because my research leads me to the Louvre, where a similar zoomorphic lamp of Iranian origin from the 12th-13th century is present in the collections (Caucasus, Khurasan)... But also to Christie's, where it changes location and period: this time titled: rare Javanese lamp, Majapahit period, 11th century, molded, chiseled, filled with dark paste… (sold for over $1000 in 2012). I hope my photos will clarify this dilemma.
