Solid Cherry Wood Bookcase, ©charles X, 19th Century
Beautiful Charles X period glass-fronted bookcase, 19th century. Solid cherry wood, richly highlighted with inlaid ebony stringing. This piece is distinguished by the elegance of its clean and balanced lines, typical of the very early 19th century. The glass doors reveal five interior shelves, ideal for books or collectibles. The lower sections are adorned with diamond-shaped panels, reminiscent of the diamond-shaped keyhole escutcheons, an emblematic detail of the Charles X style. The warm patina of the cherry wood, the delicate ebony inlays, and the quality of craftsmanship attest to meticulous work, likely regional but beautifully executed. Original working key included.
