A pair of bronze candlesticks with porphyry bases. Of Italian origin, these candlesticks, dating from around 1820, depict two children, a boy and a girl (rare), perched on a hemisphere adorned with flowers and butterflies, typical of the pre-Romantic period. The base is carved from porphyry. It's worth noting that the porphyry vein was exhausted during the Roman Empire. Their reuse is based on fragments taken from pieces of that era. The candlesticks feature beautiful chasing and a lovely original patina, with some wear to the small tab that holds the candle holder.
