This view of Venice along the Giudecca Canal, up to the Church of Santa Maria del Rosario, is a work by the renowned Austrian landscape and architectural painter Carl (Karl) Kaufmann (1843-1905).
Trained at the Vienna Academy, he worked in that city at the beginning of the 20th century. His landscapes of Venice, Rome, and the Orient earned him international acclaim.
