Original giltwood frame. Frame dimensions: 37.5 x 52.5 cm. Oil on hardboard panel (Unalit), dimensions: 35 x 50 cm. Signed.
Guy Horenbach (Ougrée, 1939-2023), Belgian painter. Trained at Saint-Luc in Liège under the direction of Jean Julémont. He later became a professor at this institute. He had a predilection for urban architecture, gardens and houses, landscapes, harbors, and still lifes. He painted his subjects in muted tones close to monochrome, creating an atmosphere of dreams and poetry.
Guy Horenbach captured the melancholy of the Walloon landscapes. Bare trees and abandoned buildings convey, through an aesthetic of decay, the imprint of time and the memory of places.
Numerous exhibitions.
Works acquired by the State in 1966. Works at the Museum of Walloon Art in Liège.
