A Napoleon III period Boulle marquetry worktable in tortoiseshell and brass, featuring interlacing patterns, scrolls, and volutes on all four sides and the top. It is veneered with ebony and blackened wood, with brass stringing and fine gilt bronze mounts (drops, feet). It rests on four cabriole legs. The top bears the monogram “BL”. The cabinet opens with a drop-front mirror, revealing an interior with a rosewood veneer compartment, and a drawer in the lower section. “Th. ANNÉE – 22 rue Chapon, Paris”. Théodore ANNÉE was awarded a bronze medal at the 1844 “Exposition of Products of French Industry”. In 1856, he took over the CHABERT firm at 22 rue Chapon, before selling it to COIGNARD in 1863.
