Emmanuel Villanis: Bronze Bust, Representing Lucretia
Charming bronze bust with two patinas, medal and arm, created by this French sculptor, born in Lille in 1858 and died in Paris in 1914. This is an early edition dating from the late 19th century, cast by the Société des Bronzés de Paris, with whom the sculptor regularly worked (see photo). In 1885, he settled in Montmartre and specialized in bronze sculptures of women, heroines such as Aida, Judith, Delilah, Lucretia, etc. These works fit perfectly within the Art Nouveau movement. Given its size (37 cm high), it would be ideally suited for display on a pedestal or in a niche.
