Paule and Max Ingrand are among the leading couples of 20th-century French decorative arts.
Max Ingrand, trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, was one of the most important stained-glass artists of his time, creating numerous stained-glass windows and monumental ensembles in France and abroad. Paule Ingrand played a crucial role in the graphic and iconographic design of their joint projects, often signed "PM Ingrand."
Their work is distinguished by a synthesis of formal modernity, spiritual symbolism, and non-Western influences. After Max's death, Paule developed a personal body of work focused on drawing and decorative research.
