"Important Louis XV Desk, Bronze Alix"
An important Louis XV style flat desk, made in Paris towards the end of the 19th century. The piece is crafted from precious wood, with elegant herringbone marquetry and a warm patina. The overall effect is balanced and refined; the central element retains its original mirror. It is adorned with porcelain plaques painted in the Sèvres style, featuring charming gallant scenes and floral motifs. The gilt bronze mounts are particularly fine. Of particular note are the two sculpted figures, signed ALIX, a renowned Parisian bronze sculptor active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known for the quality of his chasing. This rare detail clearly places the piece among high-quality production. Above, a Louis XV style clock rests simply on top. It can be easily removed without tools, allowing the mirror to be fully appreciated or the clock to be used on its own in another room.
