A superb and elegant pair of 18th-century Queen Anne style armchairs with flat backs. They rest on cabriole legs with moldings terminating in volutes. The shaped and molded stretchers are decorated with floral and foliate carvings. The whiplash-shaped armrests are also decorated with volutes. The flat back, for greater comfort, is shaped all around and molded, and adorned with a bouquet of flowers at its summit. All the woodwork is covered with its original olive-green paint, giving the set a superb patina. The set is upholstered in 19th-century tapestry in good condition. High-quality work in very good condition.
