Born in Bosc-le-Hard in Normandy, Albert Malet is an emblematic figure of the Rouen School. A student of the Impressionist painter Robert Antoine Pinchon, he began his artistic career in 1931 and exhibited from 1942 at the Salon de l'École française at the Palais de Tokyo. Deeply attached to his native region, he sensitively painted the Norman landscapes, the banks of the Seine, and the changing atmospheres of the seasons. His work is distinguished by a subtle mastery of light and a nuanced palette, inherited from the Impressionist tradition. A schoolteacher in Claville-Motteville from 1947 to 1960, he remained true to his roots while actively participating in local artistic life. A Knight of the Order of Academic Palms, he is today recognized as one of the great interpreters of Normandy's pictorial heritage.
