Liège Silver Oil And Vinegar Set From The 18th Century, Jean-baptiste Dehaye, 1772

Fine 18th-century oil and vinegar stand in solid silver and cut crystal, made in Liège in 1772, fully hallmarked.
The silver stand rests on four finely chased rococo feet and is fitted with an elegant pierced handle.
The centre is decorated with an orientalist figure (Turk/Chinese), a highly characteristic motif of Liège rococo silver from the second half of the 18th century.

The piece bears the double-headed eagle hallmark of the Prince-Bishopric of Liège with the date 1772, the Liège city mark, the control mark (letter L), and the maker’s mark of Jean-Baptiste Dehaye, a documented Liège silversmith active in the late 18th century.

The two cut-crystal decanters are original to the set and perfectly fitted; one shows a very small old rim chip, consistent with age and without impact on the overall presentation or historical value.
