Handmade Persian Kashmar Oriental Rug, Iran Circa 1970
Antique Kashmar rug, finely hand-knotted, with a "Zirhaki" design, which can be translated as "under the earth" or "priceless discoveries during archaeological excavations." This is the most prized and sought-after motif among Kashmar rugs.
There is slight discoloration at the bottom, but the rug remains in very good condition considering its age (all the end stitches are present along the edges).
Of remarkable quality, both supple and robust, woven with fine, soft wool resulting in a rather thick pile, it is very soft to the touch, this rug will find its place in any type of interior.
Iran, circa 1970.
