A rare and decorative pair of Sèvres porcelain vases with a nuanced deep blue ground, resting on substantial, finely chased gilt bronze mounts.
The vases feature an elegant ovoid body, a slightly flared neck, and two gilt bronze handles with stylized vegetal decoration, typical of luxury productions from the second half of the 19th century.
The gilt bronze mount, of excellent quality in its chasing and gilding, is signed PICARD, a Parisian bronze caster renowned for his collaborations with major manufacturers and his work for a prestigious clientele.
The porcelain bears the mark S 48, attributed to the Sèvres manufactory, attesting to meticulous production and a high level of finish.
It should be noted that the light marks visible in the photographs (dots and lines) are merely reflections due to lighting and do not correspond to any surface defects.
A very fine display set, characteristic of the eclectic and neoclassical taste of the late 19th century, sought after by collectors for its combination of Sèvres porcelain and signed gilt bronzes.
Period: late 19th century
