A Bordeaux painter, born in Latresne and active during the 1930s and1940s, little information exists about Mademoiselle Gil Chabé. She nevertheless appears in the catalogs of the annual exhibitions of the Salon de la Société des Amis des Arts de Bordeaux in 1937, 1941, and 1943, and as a guest at the Salon de L'Atelier in 1947.
A beautiful profile of a woman wearing a hairstyle typical of the Roaring Twenties, this well-executed pastel captures all the character and beauty of its subject.
Beautifully framed in gilt wood, good condition, with two small chips to the gilding.
