19th-century Monastic Poker Tongs
At the very end of its 130cm length, the tongs articulate easily, opening and closing around the log that had tried to escape from the hearth. The monk didn't have to make much effort to put it back in the center of the fire… Yes, this object comes from a monastery; they've installed central heating, which is convenient but less authentic… A wrought iron object that I imagine dates from the 18th or even 19th century.
