Beautiful remains of a Virgin and Child from the workshops of Mechelen, circa 1500. It suffered a serious attack by wood-boring insects long ago, which resulted in the loss of the Virgin's head. The Child remains particularly charming. Beautiful remains of gilding and polychromy are also present. Old collector's label. Linden wood (now quite solid) 22.5 cm
