"Bronze "pheasant And Weasel" By Jules Moigniez, H 53 Cm"
Large bronze sculpture depicting a pheasant and a weasel on a tree stump, signed on the base J. Moigniez. This bronze, with its nuanced brown and golden patina, rests on a veined green marble plinth. Jules Moigniez (1835-1894) was a French sculptor who studied under Comolera. He made his debut in 1855, exhibiting a sculpture at the Universal Exhibition, "A Pointer Dog Pointing a Pheasant." From 1859 to 1892, he regularly exhibited at the Paris Salon. In 1864, he sent the original bronze, "Pheasant and Weasel," to the Salon. His works were very successful with his contemporaries, particularly for their harmony and attention to detail. Exhibiting internationally, he found success in London and in the United States. His works are now held in numerous museums.
