This lithograph, “Aspects of Nature - The Sea,” is signed Henri Rivière in the lower left corner. The work is authentic and antique. Regarding its condition, note some minor soiling and ink marks in the margins, small tears (0.5 cm to 2 cm), and fold marks. There are also some small stains in places on the lithograph itself. The lithograph is very vibrant in color; once framed, most of the imperfections will be barely visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing, then moved on to intaglio engraving, specifically etching, in 1882. Simultaneously, in 1886, he embarked on a career as a director and set designer, creating shadow puppet theater at the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing these shows with innovative, colorful sets. He then devoted himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he painted approximately a thousand watercolors).
