A very rare piece, a Karabag kilim originating from Armenia in the Caucasus. Woven wool on wool in the traditional manner. The weave is a true marvel, fine and refined. The piece is supple and lightweight. The central field is composed of a succession of ram's horn motifs, a symbol of power. The vegetal hues surrounding various indigo blues form a kind of perfectly mastered harmony. It is a veritable work of art to be placed on the floor or hung on the wall. The piece is dated 1911.
