Fajka Janos - High-fire Enameled Copper - 20th Century - Hungary -
JANOS FAJKA 1935-2021 High-fire enamel on copper depicting a mother and child, possibly a representation of the Virgin and Child presented with modern iconography - monogrammed JF lower right - frame size 50 x 30 cm - Born in 1935 in Nagykőrös. His teachers were József Rácz, Jenő Dudás, Ernő Schubert, and Zoltán Rákosi. A graduate of the Academy of Applied Arts in 1962, he has worked with high-fire enamel since 1970. His works have been exhibited in international exhibitions: Moscow, Warsaw, the International Enamel Biennale, Limoges, etc. Since the creative spirit is paramount in the creative process, we will first examine how the content-worldview principle manifests itself in the art of János Fajka. His career to date testifies to his undeniable commitment to and belief in figurative representation. He often associates animals, specifically horses, with the male and female figures in his anthropocentric themes. Their mythical significance is rooted in the atavistic resonances of ancestral forces. The figures in his paintings are judiciously generalized human types, each with their own distinct characteristics.
