A pretty polychrome earthenware Virgin Mary, known as a "Mother in Childbirth" figurine. The inscription on the base reads: "AVE MA" (the rest is erased), "Maria." There are a few chips in the glaze, but overall it is in good condition. Is it from Nevers? 18th century. These popular religious art objects played an important role for women in labor as they went into labor. The crown held a candle, and the interior could contain holy water.
