Large Polychrome Bisque Holy Water Font, French Work Circa 1900
A superb polychrome biscuit porcelain wall-mounted holy water font depicting two delicately modeled seated angels holding a large shell-shaped basin. The figures, with their particularly fine features, are enhanced with gilt highlights and soft pastel shades. At the rear, a large ornate cross completes the ensemble, bringing balance and verticality to the composition. The precise modeling, the quality of the drapery, and the delicacy of the expressions attest to a fine piece of French craftsmanship from the late 19th or very early 20th century (circa 1900).
