"Pair Of Candlesticks"
Pair of patinated and gilt bronze candlesticks, French work, 19th century. This pair of candlesticks is distinguished by a spectacular composition combining dark patinated bronze and gilt bronze, typical of 19th-century French decorative metalwork. Each piece rests on a tripod base adorned with large, chiseled acanthus leaves, which ensure stability and visual grandeur. The delicately fluted central stem rises elegantly, supported by a decorative chain linking the upper section to the base, lending an almost theatrical, architectural dimension. The upper section features several finely turned candle holders. One of the most remarkable elements is the animal motif on each piece: a stylized bird—perhaps an eagle—sculpted in patinated bronze, its wings dynamically outstretched. This presence gives the whole a symbolic and majestic character.
