A set of four waxed beechwood armchairs, molded and carved with acanthus leaves, scrolls, and small flowers in foliate cartouches; the straight back, known as "à la Reine" style; the upper section in a bracket shape; the armrests with cuffs; resting on console-shaped uprights; the seat rails are cut out; and the legs are cabriole. Upholstered in needlepoint tapestry with a floral design. Each is stamped SENE LE PERE in two lines. Jean SENE, known as LE PERE, born around 1695, active in the first half of the 18th century, was the first in a line of celebrated cabinetmakers.
