Pair Of Giltwood Armchairs, 19th Century
A pair of bergère armchairs with flat, medallion-shaped backs in molded and carved giltwood, decorated with trophies, leafy rushes, acanthus, fluting, and asparagus. The tapered legs feature spiral fluting with ribboned and foliate motifs. These 19th-century bergère armchairs are similar to a model by Nadal the Elder, a cabinetmaker active in the 18th century, made for the Count of Artois. Our armchairs have been completely reupholstered. Original gilding with some wear.
