"Charles Parisod (1891-1943) Geneva, Switzerland Lausanne Lake Geneva"
Charles PARISOD (Lausanne, 1891-Lausanne, 1943) Lake Geneva, Oil on canvas, signed lower left. Dimensions 35 x 55 cm. Dimensions with frame 45.5 x 65.5 cm. Provenance: Private collection, Avignon. Born in Lausanne, Switzerland, Parisod made the Swiss Alps his artistic refuge for his entire life. From 1924, thanks to the support of his friends in Lausanne, he undertook study trips to Italy where the Florentine School allowed him to refine his technique. Unfortunately, poverty struck him and he contracted tuberculosis, but he nevertheless continued to paint and also made studios available to other artists from Lausanne. He died on the night of November 16, 1943 in the chalet he occupied in the hamlet of Ville-sur-Vers-Élise, at the very moment when the first snows of the Alpine winter were falling, announcing a new year of creation.
