"Cream Lacquered Wood Chair In The Louis XVI Style, Hot Air Balloon Backrest, Napoleon III Era."
A very pretty little Louis XVI style chair from the Napoleon III period, made of cream-colored lacquered wood. This charming chair rests on four fluted, tapered legs. The rounded apron is decorated all around with a ribboned frieze. The oval back with its openwork features the same motif as the apron. It is also adorned in its central section with a lovely "Montgolfier" motif. The top of the back is decorated with a pretty flattened, foliate bow. The seat is in very good condition, having been reupholstered quite recently; it is firm and very comfortable. The upholstery is an old rose velvet, but there are a few cat scratches on the front of the seat. It is clear that this chair has been repainted several times; indeed, some paint chips are visible. It also shows traces of old filling and wax. This chair has retained all its patina and possesses undeniable charm. Beautifully crafted with great finesse, dating from the Napoleon III period. Dimensions: height to backrest 88 cm, height to seat 43 cm, depth to seat 39 cm, total depth 43 cm, width 40 cm. Please contact us for shipping costs.
