Antique Bohemian Crystal Chandelier with Eight Lights, 1950s, elegant eight-armed hall chandelier made in Italy in the mid-2oth century; it has a central baluster stem consisting of pressed and cut crystal vases, bordered at the top and bottom by two large shaped crystal cups, richly decorated with two rows of almond-shaped pendants with octagonal festoons.
Eight curved arms in solid crystal extend from the central cup, with a deep downward-curving volute and a faceted surface; they end with original flower-shaped plates and milk glass candles. The eight arms alternate with upward-facing crystal arms, with the same workmanship and floral bobeches, but ending with precious prism-shaped pinnacles.
The chandelier has no chain or ceiling cup, but they can be supplied on request. One crystal pinnacle has been replaced and there are two minor cracks on the crystal bobeches. Both the pinnacle and the small breaks are highlighted in the closed-up pictures listed. It weighs 24 kg.
It must be completely disassembled and safely packaged in a wooden crate for shipping. Rewired to European standards, it is in perfect working order with 8 E14 bulbs.
The excellent quality of the transparent crystal and the multitude of faceted pendants emphasise the magical effect of reflected light, making this antique 20th-century chandelier very striking, bright and ideal for both classic and contemporary settings.
